Flu Causes
Flu, also known as influenza is an infectious disease caused by a Myxovirus influenza virus. It is more common during the autumn and winter months and is usually transmitted when people breathe in aerosols (droplets of liquid) containing flu virus, they appear in the air when someone infected sneezes or coughs. Every year 10-20% Americans get flu.
Myxovirus influenza virus according to its structure can be 3 types:
Influenza A virus – known to infect mostly birds.
Influenza B virus – known to infect humans and seals.
Influenza C virus – known to infect humans and pigs. Type C flu viruses do not cause epidemics.
Flu spreads rapidly within a short period of time involving a large number of people.
